Africa's Wealth – Exploration, Use and Conservation of Biodiversity

A wealth of biological diversity, or biodiversity for short, is essential for human life on earth. The complex web of ecological processes occurring in the world around us is what provides the very things we need to survive. The exhibition "Africa's Wealth" showcases the splendour of the African ecosystem and explains why it is so crucial to ensure its conservation.

The exhibition was developed in collaboration with BIOTA (Biodiversity Monitoring Transect Analysis in Africa), an organisation which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. BIOTA's chief task is to research the incredible number of species in Africa and to identify the factors causing ecosystem change and species extinction.

"Africa's Wealth" will first be on display at the Museum Koenig in Bonn before travelling to Cape Town. In the months to follow the exhibition will also be shown at the National Museums of Kenya (http://www.museums.or.ke) and in Burkina Faso (http://www.culture.gov.bf/textes/arts/arts.htm). tonwelt is currently working with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to develop an exciting audio guided tour in German, English and French which will captivate and inspire both European and African audiences.

Along for the journey across the African continent are the audio guides from tonwelt. Sturdy yet light, these devices feature durable technology, simple operation and top sound quality – in short, the ideal companion!
