Located in the French town of Jouy, the Musée de la Toile is a small but impressive textile museum with an international reputation. An audio tour from
tonwelt will escort you through the extraordinary collection, which is dedicated to both the world-renowned fabric itself and the history of the factory. Christoph-Philipp Oberkampf founded the factory in 1760 and counted the French royal family in neighbouring Versailles among his clientèle. His upper-class world is just as much a focus of the exhibition as the artistic designs and technical workmanship used to make the fabric into clothing, bed spreads and other household furnishings. Interviews with museum employees are incorporated to add further details of interest.
